BIRD WATCHING
Erris is one of the few areas in Ireland where you can still hear the call of The Corncrake, which is a protected species
The Iniskea Islands off the Erris coast hold the largest flock of Barnacle Geese in Ireland.
The Annagh Marsh site is important for breeding waders

ANGLING
Over 39 varieties of fish are known to inhabit the waters off the shores of Erris. There is a Sea Angling Festival held every year in August. Other activities that take place during the Festival include a Canal Swim and Raft Race

FESTIVALS
There are a number of Festivals held in and around Belmullet during the Summer
Geesala Festival
This is held in mid August and activities include Horse and Dog racing on the beach, show jumping, dog show and much more. There is entertainment in the pubs during the week.
Belmullet Gala Festival
This is also held in August and includes a Heritage Day in Belmullet town
